The head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia (FMBA) Veronika Skvortsova during her visit to Kursk region visited the medical and sanitary unit of the organization in the city of Kurchatov, noted the dedicated work of doctors and their professionalism. This is reported on December 14 by the press service of the FMBA.

In the city in the first hours after the invasion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) deployed a mobile hospital to help the wounded, including servicemen involved in combat operations. The medical facility visited by the head of the FMBA is one of the closest to the line of contact.

"In August, the right decision was made to send an additional group of FMBA medics here in addition to mobilizing the entire staff. This is a combined group from different centers, from 160 to 200 people, and 68 surgeons in the most demanded profiles: thoracic, abdominal and cardiovascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, doctors-combustionists," Skvortsova said.

According to her, the first weeks of work were very difficult, but the team worked together as a unit.

FMBA doctors performed up to 60 high-tech operations every day, which allowed not only to save people's lives, but also to prevent their disability. Skvortsova stated that this constituted a huge workload. The lethality rate among the wounded was only 0.2%. Despite the severe injuries, casualties were minimal.

Skvortsova noted that the team was able to upgrade all medical transport and supplement it with armored vehicles. This allowed medics to travel to the battle line and transport the wounded themselves to provide high-tech care. "It was the most real frontline hospital," the head of the FMBA added.

During the meeting with the staff of the medical unit Skvortsova noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the initiative of the FMBA of Russia and Rosatom to award the medical team with the Order of Pirogov. The team was recognized for their life-threatening work in providing medical care in emergency situations and counter-terrorist operations.

The head of the agency also presented departmental awards of FMBA of Russia, Ministry of Defense and Rosatom to the employees of the medical unit.

Earlier, on August 29, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that medical workers of Kursk region, helping the soldiers of the special military operation (SMO), will receive an additional payment to their salaries. He noted that additional social payments have already been introduced on the instructions of the head of state Vladimir Putin for health care workers who take care of the wounded during the SWO.

In June, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that ambulances operating in the region's border areas had been equipped with a radio-electronic warfare (REB) system. According to him, the authorities have installed REB on 19 ambulances, which work in the border area. This is equipment that helps fight drones.

In April, President Putin instructed the Russian government, as well as the executive bodies of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, Belgorod, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, to provide ambulance crews working near the battle line with REB equipment.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. Ukrainian militants who invaded Russian territory are being liquidated.
