St. Petersburg's main New Year's tree was delivered to Palace Square


The city's main Christmas tree was delivered to St. Petersburg's Palace Square on the night of December 14.
The 100-year-old tree with a height of 25 meters was delivered to the Northern Capital from the Veschevsky forestry. Now it is left to decorate the tree with garlands and New Year's toys.
The ceremonial lighting of lights on the New Year's tree is scheduled for December 20.
Earlier, on December 12, the main New Year's tree of Russia arrived in Moscow. It was installed on Sobornaya Square at midnight. The tree was cut down on Monday in the Mozhaisky district of the Moscow region. Its age is at least 90 years, height - more than 30 meters, trunk diameter - 60 cm. The span of the lower branches - at least 8 meters.
Before that it was reported that about 57% of Russians who decorate their homes for the New Year, prefer an artificial Christmas tree, while 39% of citizens choose a live tree. The remaining 4% use a Christmas tree made with their own hands.

The theme of festival decorations this year was gingerbread houses, in each of which guests can buy festive souvenirs and taste traditional New Year's treats. It was specified that at the main skating rink of Russia you can meet New Year's Eve.
