- The sappers of the "North" group of troops demined the territories of the Kursk Oblast border area

Servicemen of the engineering and demining units of the "North" group of troops demine liberated territories in the border area of Kursk Region. The Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday, December 14, showed how sappers of the Russian Armed Forces get rid of explosive objects of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
After the retreat of the enemy, many mines, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) debris and other explosive objects (EO) were left on the territory of the Kursk region. The footage shows Russian specialists using special technical equipment to check every square meter of the territory. From the craters left after the explosions, they retrieve the warheads of rockets, unexploded impactors, boosters, control units and electronic parts of the ammunition.
"At the same time, people come up to us with questions. Somewhere a UAV fell, somewhere a shell was found unexploded. We fulfill these requests from the population as well. We found UAVs, kamikaze drones, submunitions called "Bells", Soviet anti-tank mines converted to drop or have a magnetic sensor," said the company commander with the call sign Glazov.
Usually, all the discovered mines are moved to a special range, far from populated areas, and destroyed there. Sometimes, however, transportation is impossible. Glazov explained that in such situations the shells are destroyed on the spot.
Earlier, on December 12, the Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of the work of the engineering-sapper company of the group of troops "Vostok" on demining the settlement of Pavlovka near Donetsk from explosive objects.
Before that, on December 10, it became known about the demining work in the locality of Selidovo in the DNR, which was liberated during the special military operation (SMO). Despite the fact that the enemy has been pushed back to a considerable distance, Ukrainian militants are still dropping anti-tank mines with the help of industrial drones.
It was also reported on this day that Ukraine is using Western-made shells, which are banned internationally, to mine territories. By doing so, Kiev is trying to slow down the advance of Russian troops along the entire line of contact.
Before that, on November 23, Russian sappers demined a road in the border area of Kursk Region. They are inspecting infrastructure facilities for explosive objects and clearing roads, paving the way for assault units in the border region.
Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy the AFU continues.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
