- American Walsh with a world record took gold in the 100-meter swim at the World Championships in Budapest


American swimmer Gretchen Walsh on December 13 improved her world record in the 100m medley at the World Short Course Championships in Budapest.
Walsh won the final heat in 55.11, extending her record of 55.71 set Dec. 12. World Championship silver went to American Kate Douglass (56.49) and bronze to Frenchwoman Beryl Gastaldello (56.67).
On the same day, Walsh set a world record in the 100m butterfly (53.24) in the preliminary heat.
Earlier on December 12, Canada's Summer McIntosh set a world record in the 200m butterfly at the World Short Course Swimming Championships. McIntosh covered the distance in 1 minute 59.32 seconds.
