The team of US President-elect Donald Trump is holding talks with the current administration and Ukrainian officials on ending the conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by NBC News on Friday, December 13.

The TV channel, citing sources, said that Trump's advisers and his future Cabinet of Ministers, has not yet presented Ukraine with a concrete plan for a peaceful settlement.

At the same time, the president-elect promised to end the conflict before his inauguration next month. He called the casualties on both sides a "tragedy."

"It is unclear whether Trump's team has communicated with Moscow about Ukraine, and if so, what was conveyed to each side," the piece said.

Earlier in the day, Trump's special envoy allowed the end of the conflict in Ukraine in the coming months. According to Keith Kellogg, Trump is capable of decisive actions to resolve conflicts.

Before that, on December 3, the "Kellogg Plan" written in April on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, authored by the future special envoy of Trump, was published. In his opinion, it is necessary to stop political isolation of the Russian Federation, putting pressure on Moscow and on Kiev, and to start stimulating peaceful settlement more actively. Kellogg suggested preservation of liberated territories by Russia, easing of sanctions and normalization of relations with the United States.

On November 29, the Foreign Intelligence Service pointed to NATO's desire to freeze the conflict in Ukraine in order to rebuild the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It was noted that the West plans to use the temporary freezing of the conflict to rebuild the Ukrainian army and prepare for a future offensive.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
