During a dialog with the new French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou, former French Prime Minister Michel Barnier pointed to the difficult situation in the country. This was reported by French TV channel BFM TV on December 13.

Barnier pointed out the following problems in the country: farmers' demands, security issue, hospitals, simplification in governance, environment and immigration. According to him, Francois Bayrou should continue to find solutions to these issues.

At the same time, the former French prime minister said the budget proposed by the outgoing government is complex.

"The deficit did not magically disappear with the vote of no confidence. We would be wrong to forget about this deficit and the accompanying debt, otherwise they (citizens. - Ed.) will remind us all", - concluded Barnier.

On the same day earlier it became known that 73-year-old leader of the centrist party "Democratic Movement" Francois Bayrou was appointed the new Prime Minister of the Republic. French President Emmanuel Macron instructed him to form a government.

December 11, a group of members of the European Parliament (EP) from France reported on the threat of a trade war between the European Union (EU) and China in connection with possible retaliatory measures of Beijing to the introduction of Brussels tariffs on electric cars from China.

Earlier, December 9, it was reported that Macron on December 10 plans to convene all political parties that are ready to compromise in order to form a new government.

Before that, on December 7, it became known about the large-scale protest held in Paris during the meeting at the Elysee Palace of the head of France and US President-elect Donald Trump. Protesters called for the resignation of the leader of the country.

On December 4, the National Assembly (lower house of Parliament) of France adopted a resolution of no confidence in the government of Michel Barnier. 331 deputies voted for the vote of no confidence.

The leader of the party "Arise, France" Nicolas Dupont-Eignan called the reason for the loss of confidence in Macron financial chaos and his commitment to U.S. President Joe Biden.
