Theattack on the Izvestia film crew took place on April 18 during filming at the home of Veronika Ermilova, whom Western media described as the mistress of German-American billionaire Karl-Erivan Haub. The security of the house let the group through unhindered, but a man came out of Ermilova's apartment and started behaving aggressively, grabbing equipment and breaking it.
After the incident a case was opened under part 3 of article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Obstruction of lawful professional activity of journalists"). On April 20, Gribanovsky was issued a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions.
