Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi during a trip with a congressional delegation to Luxembourg was injured and hospitalized. This was reported on December 13 in a statement on her official website.

"During a trip with a bipartisan congressional delegation to Luxembourg to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Ardennes, the honorable Speaker Nancy Pelosi was injured during an official event and was hospitalized for examination," the statement reads.

It is noted that Pelosi is undergoing treatment, so she will not be able to attend the remainder of the delegation's events.

The former House Speaker in the statement expressed her gratitude to the veterans and people of Luxembourg for their service in World War II and their role in bringing peace to Europe.

Pelosi was Speaker of the House from Jan. 4, 2007, to Jan. 3, 2011, and from Jan. 3, 2019, to January 2023. She became the first female Speaker in U.S. history.

Earlier, in the fall of 2023, Nancy Pelosi announced that she would seek re-election to the U.S. Congress. She made the announcement in front of volunteer and unionized workers in the San Francisco district she has represented for more than 35 years.
