The special envoy for Ukraine of US President-elect Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg, has admitted that with the participation of the new US administration, the Ukrainian conflict will come to an end in the coming months. He said this on December 13 on the air of the TV channel Fox News.

"When it comes to Ukraine and Russia, I do believe it will be resolved in the next few months," RIA Novosti reports the words of the special envoy .

According to Kellogg, Trump is capable of decisive actions to resolve conflicts.

In addition, Kellogg noted that he admits the invitation by the American President-elect of the leaders of Russia and Ukraine to Washington to reach a peace agreement.

Earlier, on December 3, the "Kellogg Plan" for the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, written in April, was published, authored, respectively, by Kellogg. In his opinion, it is necessary to stop political isolation of the Russian Federation, putting pressure on Moscow and on Kiev, and to start stimulating a peaceful settlement more actively. Kellogg proposed the preservation of liberated territories by Russia, the easing of sanctions and the normalization of relations with the United States.

A day earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó in Moscow that Russia was concerned about the discourse sounding in the West about the need to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine for a "respite."

At the same time, the chairman of the Federation Council's Committee on International Affairs, Grigory Karasin , admitted the start of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in the spring of 2025. He noted that the need to start a peaceful dialog was conditioned by the current state of affairs on the front.

On 29 November, the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) pointed to NATO's desire to freeze the conflict in Ukraine in order to restore the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It was noted that the West plans to use the temporary freezing of the conflict to rebuild the Ukrainian army and prepare for a future offensive.

On November 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said that freezing the conflict in Ukraine was not suitable for Russia. At the same time, he noted that head of state Vladimir Putin was ready for contacts and negotiations.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
