Court in DNR sentences AFU fighter who shot Mariupol resident to 13 years

The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) has sentenced Ukrainian militant Viktor Skoryk, who shot Mariupol resident, to 13 years in a strict regime colony. This was reported on December 13 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"Sentence was passed on the platoon commander of 21 separate brigade of civil order protection of the national guard of Ukraine (military unit 3011) Lieutenant Viktor Skorik", - stated in the message of the Department in Telegram-channel.

According to the Department, Skorik since February 24, 2022 participated in hostilities in Mariupol. In March of the same year on the territory of the fish cannery, he saw a man who was not a participant in the armed conflict, and shot him several times with an automatic rifle. Despite his wounds, the victim was able to get away from the scene of the shooting.

The agency specified that Skorik was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruel treatment of civilians, use of prohibited means and methods in the armed conflict"). He was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony.

Earlier in the day it was reported that in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) detained a militant of the Ukrainian nationalist battalion "Aidar" (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in the Russian Federation), who took part in hostilities in the city of Popasnaya.

It was specified that the military man of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) in January 2019 joined the ranks of the nationalist 24th battalion. According to the latest information, the suspect gave relevant testimony, the investigation intends to apply to the court for his arrest.
