The state traffic police will conduct "continuous checks" of drivers

On Friday and the next weekend (December 13-15) employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct mass and continuous checks on the roads, special attention will be paid to the prevention and suppression of drunk driving. Regional departments of the State Automobile Inspectorate informed about the raids.

Preventive measures will be held in the Kaluga region, Chukotka Autonomous District, Ryazan, Kirov, Samara, Tver, Penza regions, Altai Republic, Kurgan, Orel, Ulyanovsk regions and other regions of the Russian Federation.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate reminds drivers of automobile and motorized transport of the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Mass checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who sat behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are regularly carried out by traffic inspectors over the weekend.

"We urge road users not to remain indifferent to the problem of drunkenness behind the wheel and timely report to the police about drivers who behave inadequately on the road, drive a car in a drunken state, create a danger to themselves and others. Traffic police officers are ready to take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," Deputy Head of the Department of Propaganda of the Traffic Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Colonel of Police Anton Belan told "Izvestia".

On December 12, the State Duma passed a bill to increase a number of fines for traffic violations, the amendments should come into force on January 1, 2025. In particular, for speeding 20-40 km / h (the most common violation of the rules) the fine will be 750 rubles instead of 500 rubles. The maximum fine for speeding (80 km/h and above) will increase from Br5 thousand to Br7.5 thousand.
