Multiple USSR mountaineering champion Bozhukov died at the age of 91


Soviet and Russian mountaineer, eight-time champion of the USSR in mountaineering and master of sports Valentin Bozhukov died at the age of 92 on December 12. This was reported on December 13 on the website of the Federation of Mountaineering in Russia.
Farewell to him will be held on December 15 at 12:00 in Moscow at the address: 2/44c12, Salam Adil Street.
The cause of death is not specified.
Bozhukov set a world record in 1993, having climbed three seven-thousand meter peaks in one season with a paraglider descent. In addition, it was he who invented the word "paraglider" and was the initiator of the development of paragliding in the USSR.
Bozhukov was also a participant of Everest ascents and was involved in the development of liquid oxygen application in mountaineering.
