Israel would like to repeat the Syrian scenario in Iran. This was stated by Stanislav Tarasov, an expert on the problems of the Middle East and the Caucasus, to Izvestia on December 13.

On the eve, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the people of Iran, in which he emphasized that the inhabitants of his country want peace with everyone who wants peace with them. According to the politician, today's events in the Middle East, the resignation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is a chain reaction from the defeat of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas and Hezbollah. A recording of the politician's speech was published on his Telegram channel.

"Israel wants to retransmit the Syrian scenario to Iran, they believe that it has weakened after the loss of the Syrian bridgehead. This is first of all. Secondly, of course, the sentiments that have appeared in Iranian political society criticizing the representatives of the authorities are used in their interests," Tarasov commented.

He noted that the situation in Syria has had a negative impact on Iran's political influence in the region, which Netanyahu is trying to use. Thus, the interlocutor of the publication explained, Israel would like to achieve a change of power in Iran. Against this background, Tarasov said, Israeli spies are regularly arrested in Iran, and Western forces would also like to influence the situation in the country.

"In order to make a change of power, as in Syria, there must be a combination of objective and subjective factors that were there. Whether they will add up in this way in Iran, it is difficult to say yet," the expert concluded.

Before that, on December 8, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after negotiations with the opposition, left the post of head of state and left the country, instructing to carry out the transfer of power peacefully.

On the same day, the national coalition of revolutionary and opposition forces in Syria said it was working on the formation of a transitional authority. In turn, Prime Minister Mohammed Ghazi al-Jalali said that most of the ministers of the Syrian government remain in Damascus, and he himself is ready to cooperate with any elected leadership.

Amid these developments, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the deployment of forces along the Syrian border to ensure the safety of Golan Heights communities and Israeli citizens. Netanyahu said that the demarcation agreement with Syria has been terminated due to the withdrawal of Syrian troops.

The situation in Syria has escalated following a major attack by militias in Aleppo and Idlib, which began on Nov. 28 and led to a Syrian army response against the militants.
