The conductor's lawyer spoke out about the passenger who dropped off Twix the cat

The cat Twix, who died in the cold in January, was dropped off the train by a passenger, not by the conductor. This was reported to "Izvestia" on December 13 by lawyer Vladislav Idamzhapov, representing the interests of the conductor.

"According to the results of the preliminary investigation, which was done by a fairly experienced, professional investigator, it was found that the very disembarkation of the cat was carried out not by the conductor of this passenger car, but by one of the passengers," he shared.

At the same time, the lawyer clarified that neither in the actions of the passenger, nor in the actions of the conductor can be signs of a crime, which is provided by Art. 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruel treatment of animals"), as the main purpose of this composition should have been "deliberate infliction of pain and suffering to the animal.

According to the lawyer, the conductor is herself the owner of four cats, she has been in a bad condition for a long time because of the harassment on the Internet. Idamzhapov added that the woman is not going to file a lawsuit for moral compensation, as she "would like this story to stop."

Earlier in the day, a law enforcement source told Izvestia that the criminal case over Twix's death had been closed.

Lawyer Sergei Egorov, representing the interests of Twix's owners, reported on January 25 that a criminal case under Part 1 Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruel treatment of animals") had been opened because of the cat's death.

Thecase with the cat Twix, who was thrown out of the train carriage, traveling from Yekaterinburg to Tikhvin, at a stop in Kirov, occurred on January 11. The cat got out of the carrier. The conductress could not find the owner of the pet and decided that he was a stray. The animal was thrown out of the car at the nearest stop in the freezing cold. Twix was taken home after surgery, he had all the documents and a ticket.

After the request of the owner Edgar Gaifullin the cat was searched for almost the whole Kirov. On January 20, the corpse of the animal was found near the railroad tracks.

Russian Railways later reported that the conductor was temporarily suspended from work. The company also apologized and said that they would amend the documents on transportation of animals on trains to prohibit conductors from dropping them off the train on the way.
