Political analyst explained Zelensky's refusal to resume negotiations with Russia

The policy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired on May 20) is based on the continuation of hostilities. Alexander Konkov, an associate professor of the political science department at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, said this on Friday, 13 December. Thus the political scientist explained the Ukrainian leader's refusal of any proposals to resume negotiations with Russia.
"The power position of Zelensky, which has developed to date, holds on the continuation of hostilities. Because, as we know, for more than half a year, since May, Zelensky is illegitimate. His powers are over, expired. New elections have not been held in Ukraine," Konkov said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.
He recalled that the election of representatives of the authorities in the Verkhovna Rada has also not been held for more than five years.
"Therefore, any faltering, whether it is a ceasefire or peace agreements final, restores the need for certain procedures to take place inside the country, which is likely to lead to the departure of Zelensky and his entire team," he concluded.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that there are no prerequisites for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine now - Kiev is avoiding dialog, reports NSN.
In addition, he emphasized that the Russian Federation wants peace, not a temporary truce. According to Peskov, peace will come when Ukraine meets Russia's conditions, reports 360.ru.
On the eve, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that speculations about the possibility of organizing negotiations with Kiev when they are self-imposed by the Ukrainian authorities are absurd, RT reported.
Earlier, on December 11, former Ukrainian MP and member of the international public movement The Other Ukraine Spyridon Kilinkarov told Izvestia that Zelensky is personally responsible for the current conflict and many residents of the country understand this. No one has any doubts that elections of the head of state should be held in the near future.
Before that, on December 9, it became known that Zelensky at the past in the Elysee Palace trilateral meeting with Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the freezing of the conflict with Russia. It was noted that the Ukrainian leader does not want to stop hostilities without receiving security guarantees, namely NATO membership or the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine.
Political scientist Alexander Dudchak shared with Izvestia the opinion that Zelensky and the West do not want a full-fledged peaceful settlement. At the same time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said that Moscow is always open to negotiations on Ukraine, the Kiev regime and the Western countries that run it are closed.
At the same time, Trump said that the head of the Kiev regime would like to "make a deal" with Russia. According to him, it is necessary to immediately cease fire and start negotiations, otherwise the Ukrainian conflict may worsen. In response, Peskov recalled that Putin has repeatedly said that Russia is open to negotiations on Ukraine and welcomes proposals from China, India, Brazil and other countries.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Putin announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
