Coffee is one of the most popular beverages. However, some people should limit or completely exclude it from their diet. First of all, this applies to children, pregnant women and people with high blood pressure. On December 16, Oksana Mikhaleva, doctor-dietitologist, endocrinologist of "SM-Clinica", Candidate of Medical Sciences, told "Izvestia" about it in detail.

Speaking about children, she noted that up to 12 years of coffee in the diet of the child should not be. And after that it is possible to give no more than one cup a day. For adults with no health problems, the norm is two to three cups a day.

"Pregnant and lactating women should be very careful about caffeine, as its excessive consumption can have a negative impact on the development of the fetus, causing rapid heartbeat," - warned the doctor.

She also noted that against the background of excess caffeine in women can reduce the absorption of iron in the intestine, leading to anemia in children during breastfeeding. In addition, she said, there is evidence that overcaffeine can cause restlessness and sleep disturbances in breastfed infants.

"Coffee is also known to raise blood pressure. Therefore, people with arrhythmias, especially those with tachycardia and atrial fibrillation, should be very careful. This beverage can also be dangerous for people suffering from arterial hypertension. If your blood pressure is controlled, you can have a strong coffee, but before that you should consult your doctor", - said Mikhaleva.

In addition, she said, excessive coffee consumption (more than four or five cups a day) can increase the risk of osteoporosis. This is especially true for people over 50 years old. On top of that, coffee can interfere with the absorption of certain medications such as thyroxine and diabetes and osteoporosis drugs.

"In cardiovascular disease, the dose-effect rule applies: the more caffeine, the higher the risk, and vice versa. The doctor should inform patients about the time when they should limit coffee," concluded Mikhaleva.

In November, Dmitry Semiryadov, a nutritionist and nutritionist, told Izvestia about the benefits and harms of coffee. Caffeine is a stimulant, which, like all other substances in this group, can cause addiction and side effects, he emphasized.
