The Russian Defense Ministry and the Ministry of Education and Science have agreed to create a scientific and clinical consortium that will research and implement the latest developments for the treatment of wounded with mine blast and gunshot trauma. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 13.

The main goal of the scientific-clinical consortium is to improve advanced medical achievements and application of new methods in the treatment of patients, including participants of special military operation (SMO).

The cooperation agreement was signed by Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education, and Anna Tsivileva, Deputy Minister of Defense. After the agreement was signed, a contract was signed between the Academician B.V. Petrovsky Russian Scientific Center for Surgery and the Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital. N.N. Burdenko Military Clinical Hospital. The consortium will be created on the basis of these structures.

"Today we also see tremendous potential in the interaction between the Ministry of Defense and civil medicine. This makes it possible to help our defenders, servicemen more effectively, to restore their health and potential to the maximum extent possible," Tsivileva said at the meeting.

She specified that in a short time of joint work they have already achieved significant successes. Specialists from the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Education and Science have developed a number of medical technologies and equipment for first aid, stopping bleeding, tactical medicine, immobilization and modern rod systems for external fixation of fractures.

"Already now we can see that mutual professional development is bearing fruit in the form of raising the overall level of professionalism of our doctors, and this benefits everyone," Tsivileva added.

Earlier, on December 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited JSC "CITO" (Center for Innovative Technologies in Orthopedics), where prostheses are made and servicemen undergo rehabilitation. Putin was met by Victor Spektor, general director of CITO, who told the head of state about the company's activities, in particular about the production facilities.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
