The Georgian parliament has passed a law banning the wearing of masks and covering faces at rallies. This was reported by online publication Publika on December 13.

"Georgian Dream has adopted a package of laws that prohibits (wearing masks at a rally, bringing pyrotechnics and laser pointers - Ed.), toughens a number of administrative fines and changes the procedure for hiring a person in the police," the publication said.

According to the publication, a fine of $1,779 can be imposed for the use of pyrotechnics at protests. In addition, there is a penalty of $5,514 for covering one's face at rallies.

On November 29, security measures were stepped up outside the Georgian parliament after the rally. Izvestia correspondent reported that reinforced units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are stationed near the Parliament. Representatives of various units guard both the entrance and the entire territory and perimeter near the building.

On December 12, the Georgian parliament lifted restrictions on entry in the form of a "yellow" security level.

On November 28, the ruling Georgian Dream party decided to suspend until 2028 discussions with the EU on opening accession talks with the union. As the country's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze specified, Georgia will continue to fulfill its obligations under the associated membership and free trade agreement and will fulfill them by 90% by 2028.
