St. Petersburg's main Christmas tree was cut down near Vyborg

The main Christmas tree of St. Petersburg, which will decorate Palace Square for the upcoming New Year, was cut down in the Vyborgsky district of Leningrad region. The tree is 33 meters high and weighs about 10 tons, reports TV channel "78" on Friday, December 13.
Festive beauty is characterized by neat branches and a smooth trunk, which will be trimmed to make the crown seem more fluffy. The spruce has been growing for about a hundred years.
The tree will be decorated in retro style, in accordance with the traditions of the 50-60s of the XX century. The tree will be decorated with flags, retro light bulbs, streamers, Christmas tree toys in the form of balls, snowmen, houses, pinecones and other figures. The top will be decorated with a five-pointed star.
In the same forestry also cut down a Christmas tree for Kronstadt. It will be placed on Anchor Square. The decoration work will last at least eight days. Lights on both trees are planned to light up on December 20.
