The minimum New Year's set for two persons, which includes a bottle of champagne, 1 kg of tangerines, 200 g of red caviar, a box of chocolates and a cake, will cost about Br7 thousand. Analysts noted that from November 29 to December 9, 2024, the turnover of payments in the category of finished confectionery increased by 38% compared to the same period in 2023. The number of purchases increased by 13% and the number of customers by 4%. The average check became 22% higher and amounted to 3,785 rubles.

At the same time, the number of purchases of mandarins increased by 7% year-on-year in the reporting period, and champagne - by 5%. The average price of a fruit increased by 22%, up to Br258, while the alcoholic beverage - by 8%, up to Br465.

At the same time, natural red caviar was purchased less (-17% over the same period), while the average price rose by 36% and amounted to Br9987 per 1 kg, or about Br1 thousand per 100 grams. Purchases of chocolates in boxes became 11% more year-on-year, while the average check increased by 12% and amounted to Br611.

As a result, the cost of a basic holiday food set for two people, which includes tangerines, champagne, red caviar (200 g), cake and candy, will cost about Br6861.

Experts also found out that the number of reservations of cafes and restaurants has increased on the eve of New Year holidays. Analysts attribute this to upcoming corporate parties, as well as the fact that Russians are increasingly choosing to celebrate New Year's Eve away from home.

"As the New Year approaches, we see an increase in the number of prepayments for festive tables in restaurants, as well as for New Year's Eve meals in online delivery services. This is due to consumers' desire to save money and prepare for the holiday in advance. Thus, according to analysts, from November 29 to December 9, 2024, the turnover of online payments in cafes and restaurants increased by 37% compared to the same period last year. There were 26% more payments and 13% more customers. The average check increased by 9% and amounted to 3078 rubles.
