In Kazakhstan at the checkpoint "Syrym" on the border with Russia formed a queue of 450 to 500 trucks traveling to Russia. This was reported on December 13 in the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan.

It is noted that the cause of a huge traffic jam was sharply worsened since December 12 weather conditions: heavy snowfall, blizzard and ice.

"Traffic on federal highways in the Russian Federation is temporarily restricted, and, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the restrictions will tentatively be in effect until 22:00 on December 13, 2024. In this regard, trucks are not able to move along the route of the route and wait for the improvement of weather conditions," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the Department.

It is noted that drivers are invited to wait for better weather in campgrounds or change the route by driving through checkpoints in other regions. The checkpoint "Syrym" is located near the city of Uralsk in Kazakhstan. On the Russian side is the Mashtakovo checkpoint. They are connected by the E121 highway.

In November last year it was reported that a large traffic jam was formed at the checkpoint "Upper Lars" on the border between Russia and Georgia due to bad weather. After heavy snowfall in the region, the road was blocked due to the danger of avalanches. Traffic at the checkpoint was blocked in both directions. The Georgian Military Road was closed for trucks for more than 20 days. As a result, a long queue of more than 900 trucks was formed. The Russian EMERCOM organized heating points at the closed checkpoint.
