Cities popular among pensioners for traveling on New Year holidays are named

Moscow, St. Petersburg and Sochi will be the most popular destinations for Russian pensioners to travel around Russia during the upcoming New Year holidays. This was reported to Izvestia by analysts of the travel service "Tutu" and the non-state pension fund (NPF) "Future". The experts analyzed the demand for travel services among Russians aged "60+" in the New Year period.

The most popular destination for flights for New Year holidays among pensioners was Moscow: every fifth traveler-pensioner (21%) will go to the capital. Every tenth traveler intends to visit St. Petersburg (11%). Sochi (8%), Mineralnye Vody (5%), Kaliningrad (4%), Yekaterinburg (2%) and Tyumen (2%) are also popular among the corresponding category of Russians.

As for the most popular New Year's railway destinations, age Russians most often plan to travel by train during the winter holidays to Moscow (26%) and St. Petersburg (10%). Rostov-on-Don (3%), Krasnodar (3%), Simferopol (2%), Yekaterinburg (2%) and Adler (2%) were among the popular rail destinations.

Age tourists also consider buses for New Year travel: among the most popular bus destinations for Russian pensioners are St. Petersburg (12%), Moscow (11%), Rostov-on-Don (3%) and Veliky Novgorod (2%). By bus, Russian pensioners plan to travel not only within the country, but also abroad: 7% of tickets bought by age travelers for the New Year refer to trips to Minsk.

Mikhail Parulava, the head of the "Buses" vertical of the "Tutu" service, noted that for the older generation buses are becoming a good alternative to other modes of transportation, especially if there are no railroad tickets left or it is necessary to go where the railroad does not pass or the airport is temporarily closed.

Russian pensioners plan to use various sources of income for traveling, including not only insurance pensions, but also payments from non-state pension funds. According to the data of NPF "Budushchestvo" experts who have studied analytical conclusions of the Bank of Russia, only for nine months of this year non-state pension funds transferred to their clients payments totaling 81 billion rubles. These are payments under non-state pension provision agreements (NSP).

In terms of regions, residents of Moscow (Br16 billion), St. Petersburg (Br3.3 billion), Krasnodar Krai (Br2 billion), Samara region (Br1.9 billion), Sverdlovsk region (Br1.8 billion), Rostov region (Br900 million) and Kaliningrad region (Br200 million) received the most payments from non-state pension funds under the NPO in January - September 2024.

Earlier, December 12, it was reported that the list of budget travel destinations for the New Year vacations included Astrakhan, Ryazan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, cities of the Golden Ring (Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Kostroma), as well as Tula, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod and Vladikavkaz. This follows from the data of the National tour operator Alean. According to experts, short four-day tours for two people with a New Year's Eve night in these domestic destinations will cost up to Br30 thousand.
