Russian electric car Atom tested on the roads

Prototypes of the domestic electric car "Atom" have passed the first part of tests on public roads and in the Test Center of FSUE "NAMI". This was reported to Izvestia on December 13 by the press service of the developer Kama JSC.
The tests were conducted jointly with specialists from Bauman Moscow State Technical University and included dynamic tests, during which the car with the maximum permissible mass moved on special roads of the autopolygon with different types of pavement.
Tests were also conducted on public roads, including a run along a specially designed route that covered urban and suburban roads, as well as highways. To measure loads, the prototypes were equipped with sensors to record the effects on suspension and body components.
The company noted that the results obtained will help improve the reliability and safety of the electric car before mass production. In the Testing Center of FSUE NAMI, a special route for resource tests was developed for Atom, allowing to reproduce the same loads on the car elements as on public roads, only at a lower mileage.
On July 31, the production version of the Atom interior was presented. The car will receive a steering wheel with a built-in screen. The interior will be available in two color variants - dark and light. High-quality and wear-resistant eco-leather is used for finishing.
In May, Igor Povarazdnyuk, general director of the Kama company, said that the Atom will cost from 2.5 million to 3.5 million rubles, depending on market conditions. The serial production of Atoms is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025; the electric cars will be manufactured at the Moskvich plant in Moscow.
