Over the past day, 326 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 27 people were killed and 379 injured. 19 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Friday, December 13, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Thus, in the Kurgan region in the early morning at the 242nd km of the federal highway R-254 "Irtysh" the driver of a passenger car, previously deprived of his license for drunk driving, drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a truck. The result of the accident was the death of five people in the car: the perpetrator of the accident and all four of his passengers.

As a result of 116 traffic accidents, 67 of which occurred at crosswalks and 49 outside their zone of action, eight pedestrians were killed, 112 more were injured of varying severity. Among the injured pedestrians were 28 children, 17 of whom were injured at crosswalks. With the participation of minors for the past day 40 accidents were registered, as a result of which 43 young road users were injured, including 15 child passengers. No children were killed.

Due to adverse weather conditions: snow, blizzard and gusty winds, in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra traffic was temporarily stopped on a 30-kilometer section of the federal highway R-404 Tyumen - Tobolsk - Khanty-Mansiysk from 886th to 917th km.

In the Samara region for the same reasons the traffic restriction for buses and trucks was introduced on all sections of the federal roads of the region. Temporary restrictions on the movement of vehicles of the same categories due to bad weather were also imposed on certain sections of federal highways in the Orenburg, Ulyanovsk and Saratov regions. In addition, in the Murmansk region due to bad weather from the evening of December 12, traffic was temporarily stopped on the 80-kilometer section of the highway R-21 "Kola" from 1429th to 1510th km.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate draws the attention of motorists in these regions when planning long-distance trips to follow the weather forecast, as well as media reports from the places of closures or traffic restrictions. Drivers were advised to refrain from using personal vehicles until weather conditions improve.

Motorists were urged to monitor the technical condition of their vehicles. Due to frequent snowfall, blizzards, icing on the roadway, reduced daylight hours and limited visibility, it is necessary to choose a safe driving speed and distance especially carefully, as well as to avoid dangerous maneuvers to promptly respond to changes in the traffic situation.

"Parents of minors are advised to be more attentive to their children. We recommend equipping the clothes of child pedestrians with retroreflective elements to make them more visible to drivers in the dark or dusk. Take family walks with your children on weekends. Strictly supervise the observance of safety rules when skating children from snow slides in the courtyard areas of residential areas. Refuse to use slides located near the roadway to prevent the departure of children's sleds, "rollerskates", ice skates and snow skates under the wheels of cars or snow removal equipment. "Lack of control over the behavior and leisure of children, especially on weekends, often leads to injury or death of young road users," Deputy Head of the Department of Propaganda of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Colonel Anton Belan, told Izvestia.

On December 12, the State Duma passed a bill to increase a number of traffic fines, the amendments should come into force on January 1, 2025. In particular, for exceeding the speed limit by 20-40 km / h (the most frequent violation of the rules) the fine will be 750 rubles instead of 500 rubles. The maximum fine for speeding (80 km/h and above) will increase from Br5 thousand to Br7.5 thousand.
