The Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) detained a militant of the Ukrainian nationalist battalion "Aidar" (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia), who took part in hostilities in the town of Popasnaya. This was reported on December 13 by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the LNR.
The message on the website of the agency notes that the suspect carried out military actions aimed at suppressing the will and forcing the residents of the LNR to reject the will of self-determination.
It is specified that the military man of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) in January 2019 joined the ranks of the nationalist 24th battalion.
According to the latest information, the suspect gave relevant testimony, the investigation intends to apply to the court for his arrest.
Earlier, on December 2, the Supreme Court of the DNR sentenced in absentia the soldier of the national battalion "Azov" (terrorist organization banned in Russia) Andrey Romashchenko, who shot dead an elderly woman in Mariupol, to 24 years in a strict regime colony.
Before that, on September 26, a member of the nationalist Ukrainian battalion Ivan Nicheporenko was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison for participation in hostilities on the territory of the Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics (LNR and DNR). It is specified that the AFU military man in 2014 voluntarily took part in hostilities against civilians.
