Lieutenant General Andrei Ivanaev has been appointed the new commander of the Vostok group of troops. This follows from the message of the Russian Defense Ministry, published on Friday, December 13, in the Telegram-channel of the department.

The message mentions that Ivanaev reported to Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov on the liberation of seven settlements and taking control of the territory of more than 300 square kilometers over the past month.

Colonel-General Rustam Muradov had previously commanded the Vostok group of troops.

Lieutenant General Andrei Ivanaev, 52, began his service as a tank platoon commander, then commanded a motorized rifle brigade. He held the positions of chief of the District Training Center in the Eastern Military District and chief of staff - deputy commander of the All-Volunteer Army of the Eastern Military District. Participant of combat operations, holder of the Order of Military Merit and the Order of Merit for the Fatherland. Previously, he commanded the 20th Combined Arms Army.

Earlier, on December 2, it was reported that a participant of the "Time of Heroes" program, holder of the Order of Courage, Captain Pavel Yakushev, was appointed to the position of Advisor to the Deputy Director General for Personnel for Patriotic Education of Rosatom State Corporation.
