- Poland puts fighter jets in the air due to alleged activity of the Russian Armed Forces

Poland has put duty pairs of fighter jets in the air because of alleged Russian activity, the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces said on December 13.
"Military aviation operations in our airspace have begun. In accordance with current procedures, the head of the Armed Forces Operational Command has activated all the forces and means at his disposal. Duty pairs of fighter jets have been raised, ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been put on high alert," the agency's page on the social network X (former Twitter) said.
The command linked these steps to "the use of cruise and ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles by the Russian Armed Forces" against facilities in Ukraine.
According to the Polish side, the measures are aimed at "ensuring security."
Last time Poland put fighter jets in the air because of alleged activity of Russian long-range aviation on November 17, recalled "Gazeta.Ru".
The day before, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Warsaw does not plan to send troops to Ukraine even after the ceasefire. As Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski specified, the country will continue to help Kiev with military supplies.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
