Unmanned streetcar will start running in Moscow by the end of 2025. This was announced by the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin on December 13.

"We expect that by the end of 2025, the streetcar will start running in fully unmanned mode with passengers on the route," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

The mayor called the launch of the streetcar one of the key projects. He also added that the tests of the unmanned vehicle are already underway, and it has traveled more than 2.4 thousand kilometers without violating traffic rules. At the same time in the city the traffic is insured by the driver.

In addition, Sobyanin noted that it is planned to build a new streetcar line on Akademika Sakharov Avenue, another one - on Trifonovskaya Street - is going to be restored. Among other things, he pointed to the plan to acquire about 100 modern streetcars.

Earlier, on December 5, it became known that suburban trains, including routes of the Moscow central diameters (MCD), from December 15 will switch to an updated schedule. According to the new schedule, trains MCD-1 and MCD-2 will run faster, at the first stage their travel time will be reduced by five minutes.
