Putin pardons four convicted women from Kursk region


Russian President Vladimir Putin has pardoned four women from Kursk region, who were convicted of crimes of minor and medium gravity. This was reported on December 13 by the regional department of the Federal Service for the Execution of Punishments (FSIN) of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that all pardoned residents of the region were sentenced conditionally.
"All women have minor children, one of the pardoned is a disabled person of the first group. All of them have positive characteristics and fully repaid the damage caused by the crime", - stated on the website of the agency.
UFSIN Kursk region explained that when considering applications for pardon, the level of public danger of the crime, the behavior of the convict and the term of her sentence already served are taken into account. Compensation for damages, age, marital status and state of health are also taken into account.
Previously, the decision to pardon a resident of Kursk region was taken in 2011, adds "Gazeta.Ru". Then the head of state released from punishment one woman.
Before that, in March, the Russian leader signed a decree on pardoning 52 convicted women. As noted in the press service of the Kremlin, the President was guided by the principles of humanity. After the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that Putin's decree on pardoning women was related to the discussion of the topic of amnesty at a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights (CDHR).
On December 4, 2023, Putin said at a meeting of the HRC that it was necessary to make decisions on amnesty for certain categories of women. This refers to persons serving sentences for non-violent crimes.
