- Libyan Foreign Ministry asks Russian Federation to explain recommendation to refrain from traveling

The Libyan Foreign Ministry has asked Russia to explain its recommendations to refrain from traveling to the North African country. A statement to this effect was published on December 12 on the ministry's X (former Twitter) page.
"The Foreign Ministry reacted with great interest to the statement by the Russian authorities warning their citizens against traveling to Libya. In this context, the ministry calls on its Russian counterpart to urgently clarify the motives and reasons for this warning within the framework of mutual respect and transparency required by bilateral relations," the statement reads.
On the eve of the Russian Embassy in Libya recommended Russians to refrain from traveling to the country because of the difficult and unstable situation, recalls "Gazeta.Ru".
Earlier, on July 17, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the Libyan settlement with acting head of the Foreign Ministry of the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity (GNU) of Libya Taher al-Baur. The diplomat noted that Russia will continue to contribute to the sustainable stabilization of the situation in this country.
