The US has tested a hypersonic missile

TheUnited States has tested a hypersonic missile. This is stated in a message on the official website of the Pentagon on Thursday, December 12.
The launch was made from the base of space forces at Cape Canaveral in the state of Florida.
US Army Secretary Kristin Wormuth emphasized that this is not the first test with the transition to hypersonic speed. Successfully completed the second test, it was also the first in which live firing was conducted using the battery control center and the launcher of the transporter-emulator.
The agency explained that hypersonic is considered a speed five times the speed of sound.
The report also notes that the successful tests open up the possibility of introducing hypersonic systems in the army and at naval bases.
Earlier, on December 10, The National Interest (NI) columnist Brandon J. Weichert said that the U.S. missile defense system (BMD) THAAD is unlikely to be used against Russian hypersonic weapons, as it has little chance of stopping Russian missiles.
Prior to that, on November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine had used Western long-range weapons against the Russian state, causing the regional conflict to take on elements of a global conflict. He also said that one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, the Oreshnik ballistic missile, had been tested under combat conditions.
