Meteorologist named two possible scenarios of New Year's weather in Moscow

Weather forecasts for the end of December are contradictory, so different scenarios are possible in the capital region on New Year's Eve, leading specialist of the Meteonovosti information agency Tatyana Pozdnyakova told Izvestia.

In the last five days of December, the weather will be determined by a cyclone, so snow is predicted, the meteorologist said.

"Regarding the New Year's Eve night, some models say that we will be in the rear of the cyclone, which will cover everything with snow, and the air temperature will drop to minus 5...minus 10 degrees," she explained.

Also, according to Pozdnyakova, the period of relatively frosty weather may be short, and on New Year's Eve there will be a thaw.

"We can say now that we will not be left without snow on New Year's Eve. It has already fallen more than the norm. And until the end of the year in the capital region will not be thaws that could significantly change the height of the snow cover," - assured Pozdnyakova.

She called snow and low-negative temperature the most comfortable weather for the holiday.
