Russian military told about the liberation of the village of Zheltoye in the DNR

Soldiers of the motorized rifle unit of the Center group of troops who took part in the liberation of the settlement of Zheltoye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) have described the course of the assault and the capture of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) fighters.

"We received an order to enter the settlement of Zheltoye. Covertly approached the village, looked around, took the point we needed, secured ourselves," said the group commander Private Nikolai Trukhin about the course of the combat mission.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) calculations conducted reconnaissance of the approaches to the settlement, as well as the locations of firing points and accumulation of Ukrainian military personnel. With the support of attack drones and drones with drop systems, mortar positions and machine-gun points of the AFU fighters were identified. After the destruction of enemy firing points, the assault unit, moving from house to house, liberated the village of Zheltoye, the ministry said.

The Defense Ministry noted that a few days later the Ukrainians attempted a counterattack. The AFU paratroopers landed from three Bradley infantry fighting vehicles (BMP).

"We were on the point, a few days later the enemy made a brazen attempt to retake the settlement, but they failed," Trukhin said.

The UAV calculation detected the positions of Ukrainian militants, after which the Russian servicemen managed to defeat the enemy and take him prisoner.

"Reached the enemy, contact was made, took him prisoner. When leading the captives, the enemy UAVs were hitting us constantly, but it did not prevent us from bringing the captives to the specified point", - said the shooter, Private Evgeny Kosintsev.

Earlier, on December 10, it became known that the Russian Armed Forces (AFU) took control of the village of Zheltoye in the DNR. The AFU lost more than 785 military, an infantry fighting vehicle Bradley, an American armored personnel carrier M113, two vehicles, 152-millimeter gun D-20 and three 122-millimeter howitzers D-30.

On December 8, the Russian military liberated the settlement of Blagodatnoye in the DNR. A day earlier, the Defense Ministry reported that the Russian Armed Forces took control of the settlement of Berestki in the region.

Before that, on December 6, it was reported that the Russian military liberated the settlements of Pustynka and Sukhiye Yaly in the DNR. On the same day, the Defense Ministry published footage of the Russian Armed Forces destroying a temporary deployment point of a Ukrainian Army National Guard unit in the Donetsk People's Republic.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
