NATO Secretary General Rutte names death toll in Ukraine conflict

At least 1 million people have been killed or injured of varying severity during the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated on Thursday, December 12, during a speech by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at a conference in Brussels.
"Every day <this conflict> brings more destruction and more deaths. Every week.
in Ukraine more than 10,000 people are killed or injured on all sides. More than 1 million victims since February 2022," Rutte was quoted as saying by the North Atlantic Alliance website.
He also said there were many cases where the alliance failed to act.
The day before, Bloomberg reported that the NATO leadership plans to set new targets for the production of weapons, which will force members of the alliance to spend 3% of GDP on defense.
Before that, on December 7, Tuomas Malinen, a professor at the University of Helsinki (Finland) and geopolitical expert, said that NATO is seeking perpetual war in the world.
In an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson published on December 6, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, responding to a question about whether Russia and the United States are at war, said that Moscow would like to have normal relations with Washington, but the United States is waging a hybrid war against Russia in Ukraine. Thinking that Russia has no "red lines" is a mistake, he added.
