Lieutenant Nikita Ryder has destroyed a kamikaze drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which was heading towards the positions occupied by the Russian army. On Friday, December 13, the Russian Defense Ministry told about new feats of Russian servicemen in the zone of the special military operation (SMO).

The unit in which Ryder served was tasked with defending the occupied positions. The serviceman was monitoring the airspace when he spotted an approaching drone. Ryder checked to see if there were any Russian drones in the sector and, after determining that the UAV belonged to the AFU, opened small arms fire on it. The drone detonated in mid-air without harming the Russian units.

The Russian Defense Ministry also noted the courage and bravery of Pavel Chiskidov, the commander of the Bars-16 squad's gun crew. He was tasked with providing fire support for units in the defense of a strategically important area.

The AFU went on the offensive in the area of responsibility of the unit, and Chiskidov gave the order to open fire. The unit managed to destroy several units of AFU vehicles, as well as a large number of Ukrainian infantry. An attempt to break through the Russian defenses was thwarted.

Earlier, on December 12, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Sergeant Anton Kokov held back the onslaught of the AFU and prevented a breakthrough of the defense. He noticed the enemy group approaching the Russian positions and promptly passed the information to the unit commander, after which he opened fire on the AFU group, immediately eliminating the enemy grenade launcher.

Before that, on December 11, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Sergeant Maxim Botov, acting as part of a motorized rifle unit in the zone of the North Caucasus Military District, prevented a breakthrough in the defense, destroying the enemy's armored vehicles and manpower. The agency also noted the courage and determination of Sergeant Eduard Asadov. A unit of motorized riflemen under his command carried out combat missions to cover the Russian attack aircraft in the capture of an enemy stronghold.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
