The Central Bank (CBR) of Russia has postponed the issue of updated banknotes of 10, 50 and 500 rubles until 2028 due to changes in the approach to the development of banknotes. This was reported in the press center of the Central Bank.

"Due to the fact that we have changed the approach to the development of banknotes, made more open the procedure for selecting symbols, the terms of release into circulation of modernized banknotes of the remaining denominations (10, 50 and 500 rubles) are shifted. We plan to issue them by 2028," TASS quoted them as saying.

The press service of the Central Bank reported that the new banknotes will not be put into circulation immediately, as it will take some time to adapt the equipment. This work will continue in parallel with the adjustment of equipment for the already issued banknotes with denominations of 100 and 5000. rubles.

On October 25, it became known that in some regions of Russia began to appear new banknotes of denomination of 5000 rubles. Expert of the Barnaul branch of the Bank of Russia Yulia Luzhnova said that the renewal of old banknotes will take place gradually, as it is "not a quick process". ATMs need to be prepared and technical measures need to be taken.
