US President-elect Donald Trump has proposed deploying EU troops in Ukraine to monitor the ceasefire. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, December 12.

According to WSJ, Trump believes that Europe should take the main role in providing security and support for Ukraine, while the United States can support this process, but does not plan to send its troops.

At the same time, at a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump said he "supports the creation of a strong, armed Ukraine but opposes its membership in NATO."

At the same time, European officials believe that Trump does not have a clear plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, the newspaper said.

Earlier in the day, the Polish Foreign Ministry spoke about the refusal to send troops to Ukraine. At the same time, it noted that Poland will continue to help Ukraine with deliveries of military equipment and weapons.

The same statement was made by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Earlier, on November 1, Sikorski pointed out the mistake of helping Ukraine on a gratuitous basis. According to him, the credit basis of military aid to Ukraine could have been implemented from the beginning of the SWO. However, the government proposed it only now.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev against the background of the Russian Federation's special operation to protect Donbas, the launch of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 24 February 2022 after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
