Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been destroyed by air defense forces in the skies over the Belgorod Region. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday, December 12.

"Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by air defense forces on duty over the territory of the Belgorod region," the channel said.

It is specified that the drones were of the airplane type, and the attempted attack took place around 21:00 Moscow time.

The day before, on December 9, the governor of Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov reported three civilians injured by a drone attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Earlier that day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense assets had destroyed 13 Ukrainian airplane-type drones over Russian regions.

Prior to that, on December 8, the Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense forces had shot down five drones over the Belgorod region and the Black Sea. The attacks were foiled between 14:30 and 14:55.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories amid the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
