The Russia 25 team beat the KHL World Team at the Channel One Cup


The Russia 25 team (average age of players is 25) defeated the Fonbet - Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) legionnaires' team 4-1 in the opening match at the Channel One Cup on Thursday, December 12. The meeting was held at the SKA Arena in St. Petersburg.
Marat Khairullin, Mikhail Grigorenko of SKA, defenseman Alexander Elesin of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and forward Ilya Safonov of Ak Bars Kazan scored for the Russian team.
Defenseman Libor Shulak from Admiral (Vladivostok) scored for the opposing team.
In the next match, the Russia 25 team will face Belarus. The game will be held on December 14. Kazakhstan is also participating in the tournament, which will last until December 15.
Representatives of ten clubs of the Continental Hockey League are taking part in the "Russia 25" team. Among them are Stanley Cup winner Evgeny Kuznetsov, Olympic champion and three-time Gagarin Cup winner Mikhail Grigorenko, world champion, Olympic medalist and three-time Gagarin Cup winner Sergei Plotnikov.
