Air defense forces destroyed two AFU drones over Belgorod region

Russian air defense forces have destroyed two drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over Belgorod Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 12.

"Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region by air defense on duty," the ministry said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry specified that the attempted terrorist attack was foiled at 19:35 Moscow time.

Earlier in the day it was reported that air defense forces destroyed 16 Ukrainian drones overnight over different regions of Russia. It was specified that four drones were destroyed over the territory of Kursk region, one - over the Chechen Republic, three - over the territory of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania and eight - over the territory of Crimea.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
