NHL club Columbus has canceled Russian Heritage Night.

The National Hockey League (NHL) club Columbus Blue Jackets has refused to hold the "Russian Heritage Night", which was to be held as part of the match with the Washington Capitals, because of protests from Ukrainian organizations. This was reported on December 12 by one of the organizers of the event, Alexander Braverman.
It was noted that after the match, fans would have been able to take a group photo with Russian Blue Jackets forward Kirill Marchenko.
According to Braverman, the main reason for the cancellation was a protest from Ukrainian organizations in Ohio, who wrote to all authorities, including the team's sponsors, presenting the event as a "political action."
"First, the pre-approved dance by the children's dance team was canceled, which terribly upset the children preparing for it. Then they canceled photos with the players. They made a political act out of a regular event for fans," Match TV quoted him as saying .
Earlier, last winter, Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnjak deleted a joint photo with Russian Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin on social media because of fan criticism.
