From January 1, FPC trains will be allowed to carry animals without buying out all compartment seats

Deputy General Director of the Federal Passenger Company (FPC) Stanislav Zotin said at a panel discussion of the forum "PRO//Drive" that the company's trains from January 1, 2025 will allow the transportation of pets in high comfort cars without buying out all the seats in the compartment. This was announced on December 12 by the press service of FPC in Telegram.

"To travel with pets in compartment cars of increased comfort will not need to buy out the whole compartment," - stated in the publication.

It is noted that other passengers when buying a ticket will be displayed that with them in the compartment will be carried a pet.

In addition, it will now be possible to transport up to four large dogs or carriers with animals, regardless of the number of occupied seats, when redeeming the whole compartment.

In June this year, Russian Railways made a number of changes to the system of animal transportation after the death of Twix the cat as a result of dropping him off by the conductor. Now, when buying a ticket, it is necessary to specify the exact type of animal from the authorized list. In turn, conductors and train managers will be made aware of the presence of animals in carriages.

Conductors were obliged to look for the owners of lost animals. If the owner is not found, the animal will be handed over to the station staff at the nearest station where an appropriate reception is provided.
