The Western countries' plans to send their troops to Ukraine are just a political tool to test Russia's reaction. The Russian Federation, for its part, will not allow such a scenario. This was stated by military analyst and political analyst Vadym Mingalev in a conversation with Izvestiya on December 12.

Earlier in the day, Reuters quoted sources as saying that the EU countries are still unable to reach a consensus on whether European peacekeepers should be sent to Ukraine if Kiev and Moscow reach a ceasefire agreement. In this regard, the possibility of creating a coalition of five to eight countries on this issue is being considered, the material said.

"The West wanted to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, but failed. In addition, now in Washington will be led by Republicans, with whom Moscow usually builds relations more constructively. Not because they are better than the Democrats, but because they are more practical. And no one will send military contingents to Ukraine, such statements are a smokescreen to see how the Russian Federation will react," Mingalev commented.

He also noted that Trump's entourage has made it clear that the US will not participate in such adventures. Poland and Germany have already refused - the Ukrainian crisis has significantly affected the economy of the FRG, which was one of the reasons. Poland, in turn, has already lost military personnel who served as mercenaries in the ranks of the Ukrainian army. Therefore, it is unlikely that there will be five to eight countries ready to transfer their forces to the conflict zone, the expert believes.

At the same time, the newspaper's interlocutor drew attention to the fact that when Western politicians talk about a peacekeeping corps in Ukraine, it should be understood that in reality there is no talk of peace. Mingalev emphasized that this would be a real intervention and Russia would respond accordingly.

Earlier, on December 1, a demonstration was held in Paris against sending Western troops to Ukraine, as well as in support of stopping arms deliveries to Kiev.

Prior to that, on November 29, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that the deployment of peacekeepers is possible only if this issue is agreed upon with the parties to the conflict. He added that in order to get on the settlement trajectory, it is necessary to solve the problem of root causes, which is deeper than the mission of peacekeepers.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev against the backdrop of Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
