A teleconference with the participants of the youth Antarctic expedition was held in Moscow

On December 12, a teleconference between the participants of the Moscow Youth Antarctic Expedition and their relatives was held at School No. 1514 in Moscow.

The expedition of young polar explorers was headed by the famous Russian traveler Matvey Shparo. The group almost two weeks ago went to Antarctica to conduct scientific research together with major scientific organizations of Russia. On the way to Antarctica, the expedition members spent several days in South Africa, so the expedition took place on three different continents: Eurasia, Africa and Antarctica.

During the teleconference, the travelers met with parents, families, teachers and classmates. The relatives of the polar explorers were able to ask questions to the expedition participants.

The plane from Antarctica with the travelers will leave on December 13, after which they will spend several days in South Africa and return to Moscow on December 17.

The first-ever Moscow Youth Antarctic Expedition is organized by the "Laboratory of Travel" with the support of the Department of Education and Science of Moscow, in partnership with the "Movement of the First" and Volga-Dnepr Airlines.

The fact that schoolchildren went on an expedition to Antarctica became known on November 28. Then the chairman of the "Movement of the First" in Moscow Nadezhda Kuranina said that the children will participate in the assembly of a large tent, where they will live during the expedition. An engineer also went with them, who will explain to the children the sequence of assembly of the living module.

Earlier, November 20, Deputy Mayor for Social Development Anastasia Rakova said that 13 schoolchildren and college students will go on the expedition. According to her, the students themselves showed this initiative. The expedition included eight schoolchildren and five college students.

The selection of the expedition participants consisted of five tests. The entire expedition is under the guidance of Shparo and the head of research expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic, candidate of biological sciences Ivan Smirnov.
