- The State Duma assessed the plans of the future head of the FBI to investigate Zelensky's activities

The investigation against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired on May 20) may lead to the Democrats being behind bars. This opinion was expressed by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma's Foreign Affairs Committee, Aleksey Chepa, on Thursday, December 12, reacting to the plans of the future head of the FBI.
Earlier, on December 11, the candidate for the post of the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Cash Patel, said that he was going to investigate the activities of the Ukrainian president, Moscow 24 reported.
He noted that it is important to determine how the Ukrainian administration used the funds of the US Congress, reports 360.ru.
According to Chepa, an investigation of this kind is what the Democrats were and are most afraid of. The deputy believes that such proceedings can lead to very serious consequences for American politics in general, as there is rampant corruption in the United States.
"Moreover, there this corruption is also semi-official. Part of that colossal money that was transferred, as they said, to Ukraine, or a large half of that money remains right in America. All the interested parties involved in these chains, a huge number, so for the Democrats the results of November 5 are questions of where they may end up: at liberty, using this money, or behind bars," Chepa said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.
According to the parliamentarian, the Democrats are trying to complicate the possibility of investigation. Thus, the current US President Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter, because when investigating his activities in Ukraine, the whole family and other Democrats pop up.
He added that Republicans are benefiting from sinking Democrats right now.
"Do they care about Ukraine or something? It doesn't bother Democrats or Republicans at all. Both don't give a damn about the lives and what will happen to Ukraine next, but for their interests there will be a war now," he concluded.
Earlier, on December 10, the US Ministry of Finance reported that Washington had allocated a $20 billion loan to Kiev, which is expected to be repaid with the proceeds from frozen Russian assets, RT reported. The head of the ministry, Janet Yellen, reminded that this tranche represents a part of $50 billion of such a loan, which the G7 countries are going to give to Ukraine, NSN reports. She said that the U.S. should tighten anti-Russian sanctions.
Before that, on December 7, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said that the total amount of military support to Ukraine from allies since the beginning of the special military operation exceeded $119 billion, which also includes $62 billion of U.S. aid, reports IA Regnum.
Western countries have increased military and financial support for Ukraine against the background of the special operation of the Russian Federation to protect Donbass, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
