In Dagestan, a large number of dead seals were found on the shore of the Caspian Sea. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Dagestan on December 12 on the website.

"On December 7-8, 2024, specialists of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Dagestan in the course of an operational field survey of the Caspian Sea coast discovered a large number of dead Caspian seal carcasses, most of which were thrown onto the coastal strip on the section from Makhachkala to the mouth of the Terek River", - stated in the message.

Specialists of the Ministry of Natural Resources continue to monitor the Caspian Sea coast. The agency noted that cases of mass death of seals occur annually in recent years, when there is an active migration of animals from the North to the South Caspian.

The causes of seal deaths, presumably, may be underwater earthquakes and, as a consequence, gas emissions on the way of their migration.

Earlier, on October 21, residents of the village of Koptsevy Khutora in Lipetsk District discovered a place with many remains of crows and jackdaws. The corresponding video appeared in social networks. The author of the video claims to have counted more than 10 dead birds.
