Polish troops will not enter the territory of Ukraine even after a cease-fire. This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on 12 December.

He made the corresponding statement at a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Warsaw, which was reported by the Politico newspaper the day before.

"So far we are not planning such actions (introduction of Polish troops to Ukraine. - Ed.)," Tusk responded to a question about sending troops, his words reported by RMF24 radio station.

He also noted that Macron was aware of this decision. Poland is going to cooperate on those solutions that will first of all "protect Europe and Ukraine from a resumption of the conflict" if a ceasefire can be achieved, the prime minister added.

On December 10, the head of Poland's National Security Bureau, Jacek Severa, said that it was necessary to rule out the participation of Polish servicemen in the conflict in Ukraine. Polish Defense Minister Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysz on the same day called the statements about the potential introduction of NATO troops to Ukraine speculation.

Prior to that, on December 1, a demonstration was held in Paris against sending Western troops to Ukraine and in support of halting arms deliveries to Kiev. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on December 4 that Germany would not send its troops to the Ukrainian conflict zone.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on 24 February 2022 after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
