Vitamin A (retinol) is one of the most effective cosmetic components because of its rejuvenating effect, which occurs due to its enhancement of collagen and hyaluronic acid synthesis when used. This was reported to Izvestia on December 15 by Natalia Tkachenko, cosmetic chemist and founder of the Roz Mary beauty brand.

"It increases the thickness of the living layers of the epidermis, while polishing the stratum corneum," the expert said.

In addition, said Tkachenko, retinol is good at fighting black dots and preventing rashes, so it will also be useful for working with problematic oily skin. Due to its renewing effect, vitamin A is also great at fighting pigmentation, she emphasized.

"While the skin is getting used to retinol, it can behave a bit strangely - redness, flaking, tightness. There may be an increase in its sensitivity. In order to reduce these negative reactions, you need to start introducing retinol into your care quite smoothly," - said the chemist-cosmetologist.

Tkachenko advised to start using the vitamin in facial skin care from one to three times a week in the evening and smoothly move to the evening application. The expert also recommended to introduce retinol in your care from autumn and combine it with moisturizing regenerating cream with ceramides, this will help the skin to better adapt to the vitamin.

Care should be taken when combining retinol and acids, she noted. When choosing a cream with vitamin A, it is better to give preference to opaque packaging with a vacuum dispenser. According to the cosmetic chemist, so you can ensure its protection from oxidation.

Earlier, on October 26, Tkachenko told Izvestia about the use of antioxidants in cosmetics. According to her, they fight damage to skin cells, for the prevention of early aging and will be relevant for urban residents from the age of 18 because of the poor ecology. Antioxidants are also important for sunbathers, as UV radiation affects skin aging and pigmentation.
