Trade turnover between Russia and China remains at a very high level despite the opposition of unfriendly states. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev told reporters on December 12.

He spoke about his discussion with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his two-day working visit to China.

"We discussed the economy, we talked about the fact that despite the opposition that is provided to our countries by other unfriendly states, <...> trade turnover remains at a very high level," Medvedev noted.

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation emphasized that the trade turnover between the countries at the end of 2024 will be at the level of $240 billion.

Earlier, on December 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the problem of mutual settlements remains the main problem in the development of trade relations between Russia and China, despite the growing volume of trade using national currencies.

Prior to that, on October 16, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with Premier Li Qiang of China's State Council that Russia and China are strengthening economic cooperation despite unprecedented external pressure.

In May, China's General Administration of Customs reported that trade turnover between the Russian Federation and China from January to April amounted to $76.58 billion, up 4.7% year-on-year. It was noted that imports from Russia for four months increased by 10.2% to $43.85 billion. Chinese exports to Russia decreased by 1.9% to $32.73 billion.
