The State Duma passed an amendment to increase traffic fines from January 1


The State Duma adopted at the plenary session on Thursday adopted amendments to increase fines for a number of traffic violations, fines will be increased by an average of 1.5 times from January 1, 2025. The amendments were adopted when considering in the second reading of the bill on the introduction of a fine for repeated driving without a MTPL policy. The bill is posted on the website of the lower house.
In particular, for speeding at 20-40 km / h (the most frequent violation of the rules) the fine will be 750 rubles instead of 500 rubles. The maximum fine for speeding (80 km/h and above) will increase from Br5 thousand to Br7.5 thousand. For driving through a red traffic signal - Br1 thousand to Br1.5 thousand. For driving on the side of the road - from Br1.5 thousand to Br2.5 thousand, for failure to comply with the requirements of markings and signs - from Br500 to Br750, for turning left or turning in the wrong place - from Br1-1.5 thousand to Br1.5-2.5 thousand.
The fine for failure to comply with the rules of using seat belts will increase from Br1 thousand to Br1.5 thousand. And the fine for drivers under the influence of alcohol will increase from Br30 thousand to Br45 thousand. The fine for causing minor harm to health in violation of traffic rules will increase from Br2.5-5 thousand to Br3.7-7.5 thousand. As for medium harm to health, the fine will increase from Br10-20 thousand to Br15-30 thousand.
In Moscow and St. Petersburg, driving on a dedicated lane will be fined Br4.5 thousand instead of Br3 thousand. The same amount in these cities is provided for non-compliance with markings and signs prohibiting parking or stopping.
In addition, the rules of payment of a fine with a discount will be changed. The driver will have 30 days instead of 20 days for such payment, but the discount itself will be 25%, not 50%, as before.
The day before it was reported that the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation has developed amendments to the Budget Code, which would allow to redistribute revenues from fines for traffic violations in favor of the federal budget.
On December 6, the office of Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs , told Izvestia that a bill will be submitted to the Duma to exempt owners of special service vehicles equipped with a blue flashing beacon from fines for traffic violations from traffic cameras.
